PVC Single Curtain Track – White Plastic Ceiling Rail

One white PVC rail, fixed flat to the ceiling, sliding by hand on plastic ring runners. For apartment, hotel and rental projects where a full aluminium track is more than the job needs.

Inquire

A PVC single curtain track is the plainest way to hang a curtain, and the cheapest single curtain track we make: one white plastic rail fixed to the ceiling, plastic runners that slide by hand, and nothing electrical to go wrong. R&C supplies it as a single-channel extrusion with matching end caps and ring runners, cut to the lengths your order needs.

This plastic curtain track is the rail for the job where a motorised track is unnecessary and a full aluminium system is more than the budget allows — apartment blocks, serviced flats, hotel refurbishments at the volume end, rental turnovers, clinic and consulting-room privacy curtains.

One channel, ceiling fixed, hand operated

Single is the important word: a single curtain track carries one curtain, not a pair, so it suits a window that opens from one side or a partition that only needs covering in one direction. Two lengths back to back give you a double when a project needs one.

The section is extruded in PVC rather than aluminium, which keeps both the weight and the price down. It fixes flat along its top face, so there is no bracket arm to align and no wall fixing to find a stud for. On a concrete soffit or a plasterboard ceiling with the right anchors, the rail sits tight to the finish and the curtain hangs from the underside.

Nothing on this rail is powered. The runners are pushed by hand, which is exactly what most project buyers want: nothing to wire, nothing to pair, nothing to fail after handover.

Where a PVC single track is the right call

Specifying a plastic curtain track is usually a budget and maintenance decision rather than a design one. It earns its place in:

  • Apartment and flat developments — every window needs covering and the track budget is set per unit
  • Serviced apartments and short-let units — a rail that can be replaced without calling a contractor
  • Hotel refurbishments — corridor and secondary-room windows where the track is not a feature
  • Rental properties and student accommodation — fixings get abused and tracks get replaced on turnover
  • Clinic, consulting and treatment rooms — a hand-operated privacy curtain that works without power
  • Temporary and modular buildings — where drilling into a structural ceiling is not an option

If the window is a feature — a full-height bay, a double-height void, a suite where the track is meant to be seen — the aluminium rails in this category will look better and last longer. This rail is not trying to be that.

PVC or aluminium — how to choose

Buyers ask this on nearly every enquiry, so it is worth setting out plainly: the difference between a plastic curtain track and an aluminium one is not quality, it is duty.

The rule of thumb that holds up in practice: if you would not hang that curtain on a plastic rail in your own house, do not specify it for two hundred rooms. The reverse is also true — paying aluminium prices for a corridor window nobody looks at is money that could have covered another floor. Where the answer is plastic, this PVC curtain track is the one to quote.

Runners, end caps and the parts that wear

The runner is what the buyer actually notices on any PVC curtain track. On this rail the runner is a moulded plastic body with a ring hanging below the channel: the curtain hooks onto the ring, the body runs inside the extrusion, and the ring is what you pull. That ring is the part that fails first in service, which is why it is worth buying runners as a separate line rather than assuming the rail arrives with enough of them.

End caps close the two ends of the extrusion. They stop the last runner from running out, and they finish the rail where it meets a wall or a return. Order them with the rail — a track shipped without caps has to be capped on site, and on site nobody has the matching cap.

Sliding is by hand in both directions, with no cord, no pulley and no baton. Where a project needs a cord or a wand, that is a different rail and worth asking about before the order is placed.

Fixing to the ceiling

Because the section has a flat top, the fixing goes straight through the top face into the ceiling. What has to be established before the rail is cut is what the ceiling actually is: concrete soffit, plasterboard on battens, metal deck, or a suspended grid. Each one takes a different anchor, and anchors are normally supplied by the fitter rather than by us.

Two things decide whether a single curtain track will hold — the ceiling, and the number of fixings used along the length. Neither is something to guess at on a quotation. Send the ceiling type and the span, and the fixing positions come back marked on the cutting list.

Cutting, packing and order quantities

The plastic curtain track is cut to length before packing, so the length you order is the length that arrives — no site cutting, no swarf, no damaged ends. For projects the usual pattern is one carton per window, labelled by room, which is what makes a two-hundred-room install manageable instead of a pile of identical boxes on the floor.

There are three ways to order depending on the job: cut lengths against a window schedule, full lengths for a distributor who cuts locally, and mixed cartons where several window sizes ship together.

Runners and end caps are quoted as separate lines, so the quantities match the window count rather than being estimated. A buyer who orders rail only and then runs short of runners halfway through a floor has a problem that costs more than the runners did.

What to send for a quotation

Three things make a quote accurate on the first pass:

  1. A window schedule — width and drop per opening, or the number of openings and the typical size
  2. The ceiling type
  3. Whether the track ships as cut lengths or full lengths

With those, the rail, the runner count and the packing list come back on one sheet, and the order can go into production without a second round of questions.

Questions buyers ask

Is a plastic curtain track strong enough for curtains?

For sheers, unlined drapes and light linings, yes — this is the rail that most apartment and rental projects use, and it has been in the range for years. For heavy interlined drapes, or a curtain that gets pulled hard every day in a hotel suite, the aluminium track in the same category is the safer specification. The honest rule is the one above: judge it by whether you would hang that curtain on plastic at home.

Can this rail be wall mounted?

The section is designed to sit flat against a ceiling. If a project needs a wall fixing, a recessed channel or a track that disappears into a plaster ceiling, that is a different profile — send the situation and the right one gets pointed out rather than something being forced to fit.

What is the difference between PVC and plastic on your site?

Nothing. PVC is the plastic this rail is made from, and buyers search both words — plastic curtain track, plastic curtain rail and PVC curtain rail all land on the same extrusion. If you have been looking for a plastic curtain track, this is the same product — the extrusion, the runners and the caps are all PVC, and the colour is the same white throughout.

Does the track come with runners and end caps?

They are quoted as separate lines so the quantities can be matched to the window count. Tell us the number of windows and roughly how many hooks per curtain, and the runner quantity is worked out with the rail rather than after it.

Can it be supplied cut to length?

Yes — cut lengths against a window schedule are the normal way PVC curtain track orders ship. Full lengths are available for distributors who cut locally.

Can this track be motorised?

No. This is a hand-operated rail. If the project needs motorisation, the electric curtain tracks in this category are the right starting point — they are built around a drive rather than a plain channel.

Related products

This plastic curtain track belongs to the curtain tracks and rails range. If you need the aluminium version for a heavier curtain, start with the decorative aluminium curtain rail. For a rail that carries a wave curtain, see the S-fold wave curtain track. Replacement runners for this rail are in the curtain runner category, and the white plastic runner is the matching part.
